Ylvis’ viral hit ‘The Fox’ is according to music industry sources reported to jump from 13th to the 8th spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.
Three weeks ago, Ylvis debuted at an impressive 29th spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and climbed steadily in the following weeks. Fuelled by more than 80m Youtube views, the viral track owes almost all of its Billboard success to its online traction. Airplay is catching up but it is the viral nature of the video that really has set things in motion for the Norwegian comedy duo.
Chart News reports this week that ‘The Fox’ jumps several spots on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, ending at no. 8.
Ylvis’ no. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 makes them the second most successful Norwegian act on the hit list following in the footsteps of a-ha who reached no. 1 in 1985. M2M (which featured Marit Larsen and Marion Ravn) reached no. 21 with their single ‘Don’t Say You Love Me’ in 2000.
