Motorpsycho w/Reine Fiske - 'Behind the Sun' tour kicks off next week

Loyal European Motorpsycho fans will get their fix over the coming weeks as the band is heading out on an extensive tour.

22nd of May marks the much awaited start of Motorpsycho’s spring/early summer European tour in support of their celebrated latest album ‘Behind the Sun’. Having completed an initial round of European touring in March, the next weeks’ 19-date spring/summer ‘Behind the Sun’ tour covers Germany, Spain, Holland, Belgium, the UK, France, Italy, Switzerland and Denmark with a mix of club and festival live appearances. Full details on Motorpsycho’s ‘Behind the Sun’ tour w/dates & venue info in our calendar section.

A mainstay on the Norwegian psych scene for more than two decades, Motorpsycho is like an element on the periodic table. The band – arguably one of the most awesome psych outfits around internationally – has always morphed and oscillated musically. But persistently there is the dense core that is simply Motorpsycho: enduring, droning, hard and hard-working music, with ever-changing melodic and atmospheric excursions; into jazz, pop, prog, country and many other things. The band has gone through several stylistic changes and is well known for the longitude of their concerts and their willingness to stretch songs and jam, in the vein of The Grateful Dead, Jon Coltrane and Black Sabbath. Their career spans 18 albums, countless tours at home and abroad and a loyal following that has remained dedicated to the band for more than two decades.

Motorpsycho’s latest outing is the 2014 album ‘Behind the Sun’ which features top-notch guests such as the amazing Reine Fiske on guitars. Other guests include Ole Henrik Moe on viola and saw and Kari Rønnekleiv on violin. Wrote The Quietus’ Joe Banks in his review of the album: ‘Whereas previous albums have sometimes veered towards in-your-face bombast, Behind The Sun is more of a grower, though what emerges is one of their most consistent and cohesive releases to date….the songwriting throughout is confident, a little less showy than usual, and dare I say more mature.’ ew Motorpsycho’s ‘Behind the Sun’ tour is supported by Music Norway.
