Week 21 in Review

By Tomas Lauvland Pettersen Posted: 23. May, 2014

New tracks from Sondre Lerche and Röyksopp & Robyn, a new Nordic Playlist and more – it’s the Music Norway Week in Review.

New Sondre Lerche track premiered – ‘Bad Law’ out now

This week, Sondre Lerche premiered the first taster, ‘Bad Law’ from his seventh album, ‘Please’, coming this autumn. Spin is streaming ‘Bad Law’ this week and praises the track’s qualities: ‘Lerche gives us a bouncy reverie on broken love which, in his trademark style, occasionally combusts into neat stretches of total disarray. He seeks a physicality in this contrast, riding on the pain of divorce to produce an aggressively simple track that abstains from the pop-craft flourishes of his past.’

Röyksopp & Robyn’s ‘Do It Again EP’ pre-release stream

Röyksopp & Robyn are teaming up for a set of releases and a global ‘Do It Again Tour’ in 2014. Following a string singles, their ‘Do It Again’ mini-album is out next week on Cherrytree Records/Interscope in the U.S. and Dog Triumph via Wall Of Sound/Cooking Vinyl internationally. Avid fans can get a preview this week though; NPR is streaming the mini-album prior to its official release.

Motorpsycho talks psychedelic exploration with the Quietus

Currently touring Europe in support of the album release of ‘Behind the Sun’, psych veterans Motorpsycho sat down with the Quietus earlier this month to talk a quarter century of exploratory psychedelic rock with Tristan Bath. A thorough and comprehensive interview, the piece is definitely highly recommended reading! Read the full interview HERE.

Jan Garbarek returns to the UK

Saxophonist Jan Garbarek and vocal quartet The Hilliard Ensemble returns to The Bath International Music Festival on the 26th May. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience one of the greatest musical partnerships of recent years before the Hilliards retire at the end of 2014. The Batch concert will draw largely on their third album together “Officium Novum”, focusing on the music of Armenia including both sacred medieval music and the bardic tradition of the Caucasus.
