Oslo’s music industry convention and showcase festival by:Larm flexes its muscles for its 2015 edition: the event now opens up its showcase stages for international talent.
An open stage
In the early years, by:Larm’s showcase stages were constituted by domestic acts solely. Eventually the music industry convention loosened its policy to include Nordic acts, and now the organizers have taken yet another step; prospective showcase acts from all territories can now apply to perform at the Oslo festival.
In the domestic press, by:Larm has voiced a clear ambition to grow in terms of size and international relevance, eventually becoming an alternative to well-established showcasing arenas such as SXSW and CMJ and a definitive competitor to European counterparts Eurosonic and Midem.
At present, by:Larm’s Nordic palette of showcasing acts has been expanded with the UK’s East India Youth and Spain’s Deers.
2015 – new daytime venue
In 2015, by:Larm will move the whole daytime program out of hotels and conference arenas, and into Oslo’s new Vulkan complex. With a large food court set in an old factory, the house of contemporary dance with it’s two stages, two hotels, the rock venue Vulkan arena, and several restaurants and pubs/bars, the area has become increasingly popular.
Seminars and workshops will be held in the rooms of the dance house, inside the food court, at Vulkan arena and at other available spaces.
The evening part of by:Larm will be much like before, and so the focus will slowly move from Vulkan to Youngstorget in the evening. The
two areas are within comfortable walking distance from each other, and by:Larm will even provide shuttle transport for delegates who prefer to hitch a ride.
by:Larm 2015 runs from March 4th to 7th.
