Says Hilde Hammer, the festival’s conference program co-ordinator: – Within extreme metal, Norwegian bands still retain a unique position. It’s not without reason that metal fans from around the world congregate to Oslo every Easter, and has done so for 15 consecutive years. One thing is to experience the wonderful music, but it is also important to disseminate and develop industry expertise and international networks. IMC wants to be a unifying arena for the Norwegian and international metal industry, as well as an inspiring event for aspiring players.
The festival’s conference part includes such gems as talks on the history of legendary record store Helvete which played a pivotal role in Black Metal’s development, metal’s future in the streaming economy as well as an introductory guide to the Nordic metal markets.
