Two Norwegians enter the UK Top 10, we hear the first track of Lindstrøm’s star filled collab, the last Ja Ja Ja London Club night of the season and Todd Terje has remixed a brand new Jaga Jazzist track. It’s Music Norway’s Week in Review!
Ane Brun and Kygo hits top 10 in UK
‘Can’t Stop Playing (Makes Me High)’ which features Ane Brun on vocals debuted at #4 on the UK Singles Chart this week. This marks Brun’s highest position on the chart ever. Brun is in good company on the house track with Dr. Kucho!, Gregor Salto and Oliver Heldons. The track is #1 on the UK Dance Chart, with Kygo and ‘Firestone’ right behind at #2. On the Singles Chart ‘Firestone’ moves one spot up to #10 this week.
Todd Terje remixes upcoming Jaga Jazzist track
Todd Terje has remixed a track from the upcoming Jaga Jazzist album ‘Starfire’. The ‘Oban’ remix blends the familiar electronic jazz we know and love from Jaga with Todd Terje’s world class disco beats. The remix will be out on 12” from May 18th via Ninja Tune. ‘Starfire’ is set for release on June 2. through the same label.

Lindstrøm, Todd Rundgren and Emil Nikolaisen share new collab

What do you get when you have disco king Lindstrøm, Emil Nikolaisen of Serena-Maneesh and Todd Rundgren working together? Dreamy psych disco that words find hard to explain. ‘Put Your Arms Around Me’ is the first outing from forthcoming album ‘Runddans’ which is set for release on May 5th via Smalltown Supersound. ‘Put Your Arms Around Me’ is up for you to listen on Soundcloud.
In a feature in The New Yorker this week Lindstrøm is crowned “the king of space disco”. Talking about his music and productions over the years, the magazine says “Lindstrøm’s productions (…) tend to be spacey in a neurological rather than cosmological sense: his music is engineered to mimic—or cause—the sensation of pleasurable discombobulation commonly associated with late-night dance floors.”
Last Ja Ja Ja London Club Night of the season
Next week sees the last Ja Ja Ja London club night on this side of summer. With a great looking lineup everything’s set for a perfect Scandi-night in London. Thursday April 30th, Our own Jonas Alaska will enter the stage ayt Lexington alongside Danish Baby in Vain and Swedish The Deer Tracks. Check out the interview Ja Ja Ja did with Alaska prior to his show. If you’ll be around London next week, make sure you grab your tickets before they run out!
The week isn’t complete without an updated Nordic Playlist. Greenland native Nive Nielsen and The Deer Children curates this weeks edition which features Sami music as well as Greenland and the Nordic countries. The Norwegian picks of the week are Kaizer Orchestra ‘Kontroll på kontinentet’ and ‘Care’ by Kaada.
