Thea Hjelmeland’s critically acclaimed album ‘Solar Plexus’ got her a Spellemann award for ‘Best indie album’ and in the months following she has played several concerts both domestically and abroad. Now it looks like Hjelmeland must be ready to board a plane bound for Japan in the near future as Japan’s largest music radio network USEN has picked up her music. Within the first week alone, Hjelmeland has had over 1400 plays.
– It’s surreal, says Hjelmeland in a press release by her PR agency Miss Fixit Agency. – I’ve always dreamt of playing in Japan and who knows, maybe this is the start of a secret dream, she follows.
The radio listing happened after Miss Fixit Agency joined Music Norway and several other Norwegian companies for Hokou Music Fest last year. Including the USEN listing, the trip also led to a distribution deal for Hjelmeland.
