Yet another great week has passed. We know it’s hard to be up to date on everything that happens so we’ve put together a list of some of the stuff you might have missed, but definitely should know.

Song:Expo written songs premieres

Songwriting camp Song:Expo in Trondheim announced the placement of two tracks written during last year’s camp on their Facebook page this week.

‘Hurt Locker’ is written by Anne Judith Wik, Herbie Crichlow and Erik Lidbom and it’s performed by South Korean group Nine Muses. Just three days after the video for the song was released it’s received over 160 000 views. Also premiering this week is “I’m a Hotshot” performed by six man J-pop group Hotshot. The song is written by Sebastian Kornelius Coucheron-Gautier Teigen, Viktoria Siff, Emelie Hansen and Albi Albertsson.

Kygo announced as face of Apple Music

We were all patiently awaiting the opening of Apple’s streaming service Apple Music this week. On launch day, we saw the familiar face of Kygo on the official website. It revealed that Kygo and Apple Music have partnered, positioning the Norwegian house sensation as a face of the new streaming service. Kygo will also do a remake of A-ha’s classic hit “Take On Me” to be made available on the streaming service. We really can’t wait to hear the results.

a-ha release first single in five years

While we’re talking about a-ha, the group released their first single in five years this week. Titled “Under The Makeup” the track is set to please fans who’ve been longing for new music from the group. The track is the first out from upcoming album “Cast In Steel”, is written and composed by Paul Waaktaar Savoy and features orchestra arrangement from Lars Horntveth of Jaga Jazzist, and of course the impressive vocal range of Morten Harket.

Aurora one of the highest climber on the German Singles Chart

Aurora jumps from #91 to #72 on the German Singles Chart this week.

Aurora’s “Running With The Wolves” jumps from last week’s #91 to #72 on the Official German Singles Chart. The impressive climb comes after a major sync deal with the German operator Vodafone that’s been running on the biggest German television stations since April. Aurora is set to release her debut album in September on Petroleum, Glassnote and Decca.

Early praise for Emilie Nicolas

We’ve been lucky to have had Emilie Nicolas mesmerizing album “Like I’m A Warrior” available to us for some months already in Norway, and now it’s Europe’s turn to enjoy the album as much as us. The Phonofile Nordic Music Prize nominated album will be released across the continent Monday July 6th. Early reviews are in and both Drowned in Sound and The 405 praise the album, giving Nicolas’ debut 8/10 with the latter proclaiming “It’s an unforgettably emotional piece of work that has the capability to bring you to tears with its sheer honesty and intensity of emotion”.
