Phonofile merge with finetunes GmbH and Believe Digital opens Norway office

In one week, the digital distribution landscape in Norway saw some major changes. First it was announced that the independent distributor Believe Digital are opening a Norway office in partnership with Indie Distribution. The day after, Phonofile, one of the leading digital distribution companies in Scandinavia announced a merger with Germany based Finetunes under the collective roof of SendR SE, a holding company predominantly owned by Finetunes founders Henning Thieß and Oke Göttlich.

In a press release Phonofile explains that both companies will keep their individual identeties, but that the two “will collaborate actively and benefit from each other’s strengths in different regions, enabling both companies to expand their international presence and strengthen their market position.”

Exisisting Phonofile shareholders will continue as shareholders in SendR, they include FONO (Norwegian independent record labels‘ association) and NOPA (Norwegian association for music composers and lyricists). FONO and Phonofile Executive Erik Brataas will also be represented on the board of SendR.

After two year of planning, Believe Digital opens a Norway office

Independent music distributor Believe Digital has officially opened a Norweay office, after a two-year long development phase led by Norwegian based artist manager Eivind Brydøy, who will serve as Believe’s representative in Norway.

The Norwegian office will be run by Erlend Gjerde who takes the position as Country Manager. Gjerde also runs Oslo bases companies Indie Distribution, Indie Recordings and Name Music

– We’re excited to announce our new role for Believe Digital. Believe is probably the only player in the digital music industry that manages to offer the flexibility and dynamics of an independent, whilst coupled with the power which is usually only enjoyed by the majors. This truly marks the start of a new era for us, entering into the digital music distribution market by joining one of the very best multinational teams out there.

With the Norway office up and running, Believe are operating over 30 offices around the world.
