The recommendation comes from the British newspaper, The Independent, which thinks the Øya festival is one of the seven best festivals in Europe. The newspaper emphasizes the line up, which it believes delivers quality from a wide genre – highlighting the artist Sigrid from this year’s program. The Independent is also impressed by the green environmental profile, concluding that “If this is not a feel-good festival, we do not know what is”.
At the same time as the Øya Festival, Øya International will be taking place. This is a networking collaboration between Music Norway and Øya, which is about connecting the Norwegian industry with invited international industry representatives – this will be the 13th year Øya International takes place.
Rock Werchter / Belgium, Roskilde / Denmark, Flow / Helsinki, Primavera Sound / Barcelona, NOS Alive / Lisboa and Melt! in the Gräfenhainichen between Berlin and Leipzig are also part of The Independent’s list.
The Øya Festival has previously been voted the greenest festival in Europe, and the festival is on the Festival Insight’s list of the best festivals in the world – along with another Norwegian festival, Slottsfjell.
The Øya festival will take place in Oslo from 8th – 12th of August this year.
