Monday June 5th, Cikada is set to play the festival June at the Buffalo Festival. This represents the culmination of an exchange project between composers and performers from Buffalo and Oslo – with the professors at the Oslo Academy of Music, Henrik Hellstenius and Kjell Tore Innervik in charge.
In addition to Cikada, Bifrost Ensemble will attend this year’s festival. Cikada will play in trio of Anne Karine Hauge (flute), Rolf Borch (clarinet) and Kenneth Karlsson (piano). They will perform works by Hellstenius (Unfolded, as it were), Eivind Buene (Landscape with Ruins), Maja Ratkje (Two small pieces for Arnold S.) and Asbjørn Schaathun (Stravinsky goes Bach and Schaathun goes Frescobaldi).
The following Thursday, June 8th, National Sawdust is waiting in New York where Cikada will perform the works And sing while thou on pressed flowers dost sleep (2012) by Maja Ratkje, and Harmonium Repertoire (2016) by Lars Petter Hagen. A work by Australian composer Liza Lim will also be performed at this concert, inspired by the Ulitma festival in Oslo.
The Norwegian Consulate General in New York is contributing to facilitate Cikada’s concert at National Sawdust.
