Monica Heldal has gained attention at home and abroad with her strong 2013 debut; ‘Boy From the North’. With solid guitar playing, a distinct voice, and strong compositions, Heldal has enthralled audiences in France, the Netherlands, Ireland and England. Her performances in these countries has not gone unnoticed, and after playing at the Rory Gallagher Tribute festival in Ballyshannon, Ireland in 2010 she was invited to play at the French guitar festival “Guitare én Scene” where she supported guitar legends Al Di Meola and Gilberto Gil.
Heldal’s repertoire is a mix between traditional country blues and folk, and she cites musicians such as Rory Gallagher, Nick Drake, Chet Atkins, Neil Young and Jimmy Page as main inspirational sources.
2013/14 has seen Heldal touring extensively at home and she joined Ben Howard for his full European tour and also contributed to his chart-topping ‘Burgh Island’ EP.
