‘Engel’ is Norway’s most played song and we had a chat with Universal Music Norway


Summer time is upon us, and there is one song that tops both the Spotify and WiMP list this week. Admiral P and Nico D’s summerjam Engel (Angel) is Norway’s most streamed song!

In addition, Broiler’s Rays of Light enter on a 10th place, pushing Morten Harket’s Brother out.

At Spotify, Röyksopp’s Do It Again has been replaced by new the Fox-ish phenomenon Salsa Tequila by Anders Nilsen. The video already has close to 1.5 million views on YouTube, and has hit the charts all over Europe.

Major label Universal Music Norway represents four out of the ten artists on both lists; Gabrielle, Broiler, Admiral P and Katastrofe.

Don’t fight it
Bjørn Rogstad A&R Director and Head of Local at Universal claims that it’s all about embracing the new ways, and marketing and releasing your music according to the new channels and their consumers.
– There is no point in blaming the model, try and fight it or change it. All we know for sure is that nothing will be the same. Be open, experiment and learn. And make bold musical choices, because everything in between will disappear in the crowd.
