Pop music with a twist, roots in indie and alternative country rock, inspired by names such as Paul Simon, the Shins, Edward Sharpe, The Mamas and the Papas and the Everly Brothers – that’s Norwegian Mikhael Paskalev for you.

The success story for young Norwegian/Bulgarian Mikhael started with the release of his first single ever, the platinum selling and super catchy I Spy which became a smash-hit in Norway after winning a national award for Best Unsigned Act in 2012. The following video, the remarkable Tom Cruise- inspired homage, made waves in the music underground from Norway via Huffington Post to Hype Machine, and has had over 1 million views in Youtube and Vimeo.

Paskalev has performed at most of the major Norwegian music festivals, and offers a dynamic live set, ranging from songs accompanied by his nylon-strung guitar only, to a six-piece band with the occasional trumpet and a circus of energy. At times the songs are shamelessly catchy, but never leave the lovely and raw soundscape in which he and producer wonderkid Joe Wills chooses to operate.
