This week, MashUp Norway, Innovasjon Norge and Funded by Me arranged the first ever live crowdfunding event in Oslo (the second ever in Norway). Three young, music tech startups pitched their ideas in front of a room full of potential investors. Nothing extraordinary in that matter, what differed from regular company pitches was the informal atmosphere at the venue. With a beer in one hand and our smartphones in the other one could easily invest in the companies before, during and after they presented their startup, with only a few clicks. No prior investment experience were required – if you believed in the startup’s vision and had cash to invest, you were an eligible investor. – We are democratizing innovation, project manager of MashUp Ida Faldbakken told Music Norway earlier this month.
Close to 300.000NOK were invested in Museai, vidFlow and Bandify, with vidFlow as the jury’s favorite and Bandify raising the most of the three during the event. Interested can invest for a month longer.
Up next for MashUP is a pitching competition aimed at the UK market. The event “Oslo meets Hackney” takes place on December 5th and is now open for applicants. MashUP want the most disruptive music & ideas. Will the future of music and technology get a kick start in December? We sure hope so, but remember to send your idea to MashUP within November 20th to have a chance!
