Norwegian songwriters reach top ten on Billboard 200

Posted: 26. Nov, 2014

Producers/songwriters Coucheron and Bjørn Erik Pedersen reach Top Ten on Billboard’s album charts.

Earlier this year, Bjørn Erik Pedersen, a noted producer affiliated with Norway’s Whiteroom studio and Sebastian Kornelius Coucheron-Gautier Teigen aka EDM act Coucheron, wrote the track ‘Warning’ which was later picked up by Nick Jonas and featured on his self-titled solo album. This week saw the album reaching No#6 on the Billboard 200.

‘Warning’ was written by the two and US songwriter Joe Gill at a songwriting camp held in the Whiteroom studios in Jan 2014. The songwriting camp was supported by Music Norway and NOPA and staged in partnership with artist management/record label Toothfairy (home of Coucheron and CLMD among others).

Says Coucheron manager, Toothfairy’s Martin Schilde to Norwegian daily VG: – We ran a songwriting camp back in January with US top-tier producers – one of the concrete results coming out of this is this week’s Billboard No#6.

Says Whiteroom’s Bjørn Erik Pedersen to Music Norway: – The thing that was really positive with the January songwriting camp was that we had Warner Music coming over from LA – they were in a position to distribute the written tracks to a the right recipients. Having Warner on board is a really positive thing for us as we are aiming for a much larger market than the domestic one. When we now see that Warner succeeds with our tracks it pays dividends for us.

A&R of Warner Chappell in LA, Charlie Amter, was accompanied by fellow US music execs Felica Barton, Joe Gill, Skyler Stonestreet and Hannah Yadi at the January songwriting camp in Norway.
