Indie Recordings have released albums from Kvelertak, Enslaved, Shining and Satyricon to name just a few of its massively great roster. To celebrate 10 years in the game, the label have put three of their acts together for a 20 stop European tour. Keep of Kalessin, Vreid and Vredehammer are set to play in 8 countries during a month on the road.
We had a quick chat with Erlend Gjerde of Indie Rec to get a peak inside how the next 10 years will look for the label.
– Congrats on 10 fine years! Could you tell us a bit about what your focus will be for the coming ten?
– Thank you very much. Well, we plan on further developing the label and our great artists over the next decade. We have both seasoned artists and new developing talented that we are thrilled to be working alongside. It is such an exciting time to be in the music business taking part in the great digital shift and adapting to the new reality. Besides developing talent and releasing great records we want to contribute to growing the artist economy by raising awareness of this pressing issue. The shortfall of income for artists as a consequence of streaming revenue taking over physical and download sales is a challenge the industry as a whole need to solve should we not drive a whole generation of artists and songwriters into amateurship.
– Indie is heading out on an anniversary tour. What can we exptect from these shows?
– The tour shows three different stages of our artist roster. The established Keep Of Kalessin has a huge worldwide audience. Vreid is actually just making their breakthrough these days with their fantastic new record Solverv, and Vredehammer is a new and very talented band just starting out. It will definitely be a package worth catching.
