FYSISK FORMAT turns 100 releases this autumn with the release of Hilma Nikolaisen’s album Puzzler

The Oslo based-label started out in 2008 as a new branch of indie record store Tiger. All of the first releases was with bands and artists that were regular customers, or indeed worked at Tiger. Though the starting point was very local, the ambition has been international from day one. Which is only natural when you deal in a variety of niches and sub-genres.

– It has been a turbulent period with the ongoing war of the formats, every new release has been a new page in the war-journal. But the only way to win a culture war is to have the best music, form strategic alliances and have the most fun. And right now, it seems like we’re all winning, says founder, Kristian Kallvik
