It was Karen Norbakk in Mandelbaum Management who was the recipient of the industry grant established by Music Norway, and announced before the music industry conference by: Larm in Oslo
The grant was awarded by Tim Blacksmith, from the management team of Stargate, during a networking luncheon organized by H.K.H. Crown Prince and H.K.H. Crown Princess at their Skaugum residence on Wednesday during by:Larm.
The grant Norbakk received is 100 000 NOK – and a graphic print signed Bendik Kaltenborn. The grant will be used to explore and exploit international opportunities for herself and the artists she represents. Norbakk is the manager of Hasta and Rytmeklubben. Other members of the Mandelbaum roster is Cashmere Cat, Bearson, Lindstrøm, Village and Slip Mats (Mats Lie Skåre).
The grant awarded is by Music Norway, in collaboration with Tim Blacksmith and Per Eirik Johansen’s family.
Karen Norbakk started as an intern in Mandelbaum three years ago and has not looked back since. She has accepted responsibility in the company, both as an assistant to senior manager Vegard Waske and now with her own artists. Karen has got what the jury thinks is needed to succeed.
– We believe the winner has the potential to become an industry profile and we want to follow her work for a long time, says Kathrine Synnes Finnskog, juror and executive director of Music Norway.
The music organizations in Norway nominated candidates for the grant, and ended up with a shortlist of 13 nominees.
