Nominees for the 60th Grammy Awards were announced today (Tuesday), with five Norwegian nominees. Acclaimed classical producer and engineer Morten Lindberg of 2L sees four nominations in three categories.
Lindberg is nominated in Best Surround Sound Album for the albums “Ståle Kleiberg: Mass For Modern Man” with Trondheim Symfoniorkester/Eivind Gullberg Jensen/Trondheim Vokalensemble, and “So Is My Love”, Best Engineered Album, Classical for “Ståle Kleiberg: Mass For Modern Man” and the prestigious Producer of the Year, Classical category.
Production duo Stargate, consisting of Mikkel Storleer Eriksen Tor Erik Hermansen, is up for “one of the big 3” with a nod in the Song of the Year category with Julie Michaels’ Issues. Stargate wrote the song with Michaels, Benny Blanco and Justin Tranter and produced it with Benny Blanco and Rob Danzen. Julia Michaels is also up for Best New Artist.
Worth noting is the Norwegian contributors to Grammy nominated songs and albums. Anders Frøen aka Mood Melodies co-wrote Stay for Zedd and Alessia Cara which is up for a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Cashmere Cat co-wrote and co-produced four songs on The Weeknd’s Best Urban Contemporary Album nominated album Starboy.
Tyler, The Creator is up for Best Rap Album with Flower Boy. The album sees Anna of the North featured on two songs.
The Grammys will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday, January 28.
