Seeb, consisting of Espen Berg, Simen Eriksrud and Niklas Strandbraaten have entered the exclusive Spotify billion club as their remix of Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza hit 1.000.000.000 streams Monday.
That makes the song the 10. most played song of all time on Spotify to date.
The song was released in 2015 and really took off in 2016 where it reached Top 10 in 27 countries, peaked at #1 on Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart and Billboard Pop Songs, and sat at #1 for four weeks in UK.
Berg says it’s wild to reach the milestone.
– It’s pretty wild to think the song now has passed 1 billion plays on Spotify alone. It’s almost hard to believe. We are very happy that people around the world have listened to it, and made it possible for us to create a platform to release our music. At the same time, it’s sad that song’s lyrics, which deals with the dark side of life as an artist, suddenly became relevant to Avicii’s tragic passing. He is also part of the story of the song and we hope this will make our industry even better to take care of all the creative and often young people working in it.
To date the song is platinum in 12 countries and certified Diamond in France.
