Norwegian music industry’s export facilitator and promotional organisation.

Majorstuen was founded in 2000 by fiddle players Ragnhild Furebotten, Gjermund Larsen (also cello), Jorun Marie Kvernberg, Synnøve Bjørset (also viola), Tove Dalbakk (also cello) and Andreas Ljones (also cello). The band established their own record label, Majorstuen Fiddlers Company, and released Jorun Jogga (2004) and Juledrøm (2006). The first record, released on 2L in 2003 won a Spelleman award.

The outcome of the band is a mix between traditional music from each of the members home regions and own compositions. Majorstuen has played all over the world and is regarded as one of the most important folk music bands in Norway since 2000. Over the years the line-up has changed and in the current line-up Swede Anders Löfberg har replaced Larsen on fiddle and cello.
