Womex, the conference and showcase festival for folk and world music has revelaed the first official showcase artists this year. The Norwegian desert blues, folk group Erlend Viken Trio is amongst the exclusive group of artists set to play.

Norwegian fiddler Erlend Viken has teamed up with guitarist Marius Graff and cellist Leo Svensson Sander, creating an original expression that really stands out. This led to a long string of glowing reviews for their debut album in 2014.

The trio is touring extensively in Norway and abroad, and have gained many fans across through their energetic live performances. Their music is inspired by rock, desert blues and old-time, american music. These influences, merged with guitar, cello and fiddle gives Norwegian tradional music a new sound. The group’s latest album “Nykomlingen” was released in February on Heilo/Grappa.

Womex takes place in Katowice, Poland from 25. – 29. October 2017.
