Kathrine Synnes Finnskog, Managing Director of Music Norway, was elected chairman of NOMEX during the annual meeting at February 26th.

NOMEX is a network consisting of the Nordic music export offices: Export Music Sweden, Iceland Music Export, Music Export Denmark, Music Finland and Music Norway. The network was established in 2008.

– NOMEX is showcasing the Nordic Model in a great way, a model the world should look to right now. We have peace and enough stability in our region to develop and execute international projects in cooperation with our Nordic neighbours. I feel that the trust we get from our international partners gives NOMEX high credibility when working abroad. Our joint venture makes it possible to work both strategically to reach the world from here in the north, and it strengthens our Nordic relations. The international demand is increasing, but I also believe we have a lot of potential in the Intra-Nordic market. It´s closely integrated culturally, more sustainable than travelling far, and a solid platform in the Nordics gives you more traction when you pursue success in other markets internationally, says Kathrine Synnes Finnskog, Managing Director of Music Norway.

The network cooperates on a set of projects as Trade Missions to Japan, USA and South-Korea. The network funds the showcase plattform Ja Ja Ja in London and Berlin. NOMEX also started the initiative  “Nordic Music Biz´20 under 30” to recognize the young talents of the Nordic music industry. The showcase festival and music conference Nordic  Folk Alliance based on the concept for Folk Alliance International was started by NOMEX in 2018. The network was funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers from 2012-2017.
