About us
We are the Norwegian music industry’s export facilitator and promotional organization. Music Norway serves as the official export office for Norway’s music sector. Our mission is to increase awareness of, and demand for, Norwegian music internationally, and to support music professionals with global ambitions.
Founded by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Equality, Music Norway works to facilitate international export initiatives and promote Norwegian music abroad. We support professional artists, songwriters, performers, and companies across the music industry, with a particular focus on export-ready talent and businesses.
We provide strategic funding schemes, market expertise, and access to global networks. Our initiatives are designed to respond to documented international demand and to support long-term value creation across diverse genres and markets. Music Norway acts as a bridge between the Norwegian music sector and the global music industry. Our work is rooted in the needs of the music community, and we collaborate closely with national and international partners across genres and regions.
Through our work, we aim to strengthen sustainable creative industries and ensure that music from Norway continues to reach audiences, markets, and partners worldwide.
Our relationship with the Norwegian government
Music Norway was established in 2013 by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Equality, which, together with the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also provides funding. The Ministry of Culture and Equality is responsible for Music Norway’s operational funding, while Music Norway administers grant schemes on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Music Norway also serves as an advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on music-related matters and plays an active role in building a more sustainable, inclusive, and internationally connected music industry.
