They recently unveiled their eagerly anticipated second full-length album, "Solen var bättre där," under the prestigious Supertraditional record label.
Their artistic prowess recently earned them the coveted Edvard Award in the "Lyrics" category, a testament to their songwriting excellence.
The trio made their mark on the music scene with their 2021 debut album, "Ingen Mere Gråter," released on Heilo, Grappa. This critically acclaimed work clinched the Folkelarm award in the open category, and their accomplishments reached new heights when they received a nomination in the European category of Songlines music magazine in 2023.
By seamlessly fusing traditional and modern elements, Ævestaden quickly established themselves in the folk music scene, captivating both traditional enthusiasts and a broader, more diverse audience. In 2022, they collaborated with the indie band Benedikt to create the EP "Jag är sen igen," released on the "Koke Plate" label. Their lyrics on this project garnered Edvard Award nominations, alongside renowned artists like AURORA, and in September 2023, they secured the prestigious award.
Ævestaden has graced the stage at prominent events like Celtic Connections, By:Larm, Førdefestivalen, VillVillVest, Festspillene i Bergen, Festspillene i Nord-Norge, and Midgardsblot. Beyond their native Norway and Sweden, their performances have captivated audiences in Poland, France, Scotland, England, Germany, and Denmark.
The trio's remarkable talent has not gone unnoticed; they are the proud recipients of the NOPA scholarship for 2022 and have graced the national television stage in the esteemed TV program "NRK Scenen."
