Aksel Rønning Trio at European Showcase, Thursday at 4:15 PM.
Kulturzentrum Schlachthof
Aksel Rønning Trio, based in Oslo, is at the meeting point between Scandinavian jazz traditions and modern improvisational freedom. Aksel Rønning (saxophone, electronics) formed it in 2019 with two friends from the same student cohort on the Trondheim Jazzlinja programme. Eskild Sveås Okkenhaug (bass) is also from Norway. August Glännestrand (drums), also the drummer with Liv Andrea Hauge’s trio, is originally from Sweden. On the borders between the produced and the improvised, their three albums on the Øra Fonogram label reveal a flourishing and developing spirit of exploration. “Melodic, intense, down-to-earth, searching, open.” (Jazz i Norge)". Their fourth album, ACCIDENTS, is released on April 10th, 2026.
Line-Up: Aksel Rønning (sax, electronics), August Glännestrand (dr), Eskild Sveås Okkenhaug (b)
